This little leather square has left an indelible impression on most outdoor enthusiasts, but is it recognizable enough to be a nonfunctional logo? I can’t help but be torn by this use of the lashing square by Undefeated. I wonder, does it simply bastardize the packing world’s beast of burden, or celebrate one of the most perfect, most important parts of backpacking by giving it a rest as a useless icon? I guess it all depends on your reason for wearing it.
The next time you’re in need of a water carrying device grab for the original, fun, water carrying bottle from Open Country. These plastic bottles come in a myriad of shapes and sizes and colors. The two-stage stopper caps seals extra tight and loop created by the lid firmly secures it to just about anything.
Did I mention they’re cheap? real cheap.
Vintage Levi’s second generation 507xx big E selvedge denim jacket.
This jacket is in very nice condition with no holes, rips or snags. Denim is still dark and vibrant with only some lightening at pleats. Selvedge finish down the inside front, red line has since faded out. Stitching still bright and clean. Loose threads along bottom inside hem the only imperfection.

Beautiful Vintage Vasque “waffle stomper” hiking/climbing boots circa early-mid 1970s. These boots are almost in NOS condition! Soles show little signs of wear tongues are straight and leather remains untreated. Ankle padding is soft and supple as is the top ankle cuff. Iconic Vasque “V” stamp is a little faded but still clearly visible. All stitching complete and intact. Treated heel stitching.

Wilderness Experience of Chatsworth California Day Pack Backpack in nice shape. This bag features a zip close top pocket with double d-ring cinch down closure. Blue and white nylon draw string main compartment closure with spring loaded toggle. External back compartment. Adjustable padded shoulder straps and waist strap.

This stove folds up into a 7 x 4.7 x 1.625 rectangle with fold down supports giving it that Mousetrap appearance. Fuel comes from a canister that connected via a half inch tube inserted into a canister. from what I understand the canister used on these had a rubber nipple and no screw connection was used. Still I cannot say if this stove has the complete under carriage but it seems to. Also, sounds like the fuel source for these is pretty tough to come by so it may be so a collectors item only anyhow.

Natural Comfort for Recreational Equipment Inc. This piece displays all the cut and quality of rivals of its day like Holubar, Woolrich, Gerry, and Bauer.
Relatively little is known about the maker itself but the quality is definitely on par with what REI demanded. REI contracted other manufacturers to make gear for the Co-op such as Thaw, a Seattle based company producing down gear. This jacket has good weight and good lines. I especially like the hood construction consisting of two pieces one wrapping around and up the back and the other capping off the top and down the front side.
