This is a nice example of the The North Face OI-22 tent. “OI” being for oval intention and 22 for two-man two poles. This light weight two-man tent uses two poles in a double helix fashion to erect. The poles lock into riveted brass rings on at the corners of the tent. The rain fly sits atop the poles and is staked down as well.
Inside the area measures:
59 inches across in the center
97.5 inches long (head to toe)
37 inches high at its highest.
Weight:
approx. 5lbs
Poles are ghosted with the writing The North Face 25.
Two small velcro up windows at each end with mesh storage below. TALON zippers on bug screen and outer door.
Vasque trail boots. Uppers in nice shape with only some minor scuffing. Ankle cuff and internal padding still nice and soft. Double tongue. 5 swivel eyelets, 2 hook lacing. Vibram soles still in excellent shape and the welt is still in good shape maintaining all stitching.
Inside markings read:
8 1/2 N 06050
T72 6235
Weight: 30 ounces/boot
Nothing warms my heart more than seeing quality designs that have stood the test of time still being produced in their original manner; by hand of top quality materials. The wears and outdoor gear from Germany’s Seil Marchall do just that. They’ve been up to their ways for over one hundred and ten years!

This is a great vest from my personal favorite vintage Colorado brand. The cut and quality of Holubar’s designs shines through making for a visual nice, yet very functional piece. The tall collar can be laid flat or buttoned all the way up to keep the neck warm. The front pockets are side and top entry with a down layer on the outer to keep hands warm.
Like Gerry, Holubar is another outdoor gear pioneer founded in Colorado. The company was a leader and innovator in outdoor gear through out the 50s,60s &70s before being bought, sold and put out of business. Recently the label has resurfaced in Italy making outerwear that pays homage to the original brand with a bit more flare for fashion.
Here it is, one classic Gerry reversible Green/Blue Down vest. This vest features two hip pockets on the Green side with embroidered Gerry Triangle Logo. The label lives inside one of the pockets making for a clean Blue reverse side. Both sides have the logo embroidered snaps.
Gerry is the iconic label that pioneered a new era in outdoor gear. Founded in the mid 1940s by Gerry Cunningham in Colorado the company was responsible for several outdoor gear innovations and a leader in quality and technology through the 1970s.
Measures:
Pit to Pit: 21 inches
neck to hem: 25.5 inches
Nice simple older EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) low profile day pack. This pack consists of one main compartment and one slim front pocket. Shoulder straps are nylon seat belt type straps with no padding adding to the bags stealthy appearance. Folds up small to fit nicely in your overnight pack or luggage.
Measures:
16 inches tall
10.5 inches across
4 inches deep
Class-5 day pack rucksack. This bag dawns the original label with the reading “Class-5 Mountain Equipage. Designers, Manufacturers & Purveyors to the Public”
This bag has three compartments, one main, one front and a top compartment on the flap.
The bag also features:
Class-5 was is California-based outdoor gear company founded in the early 70s by Justus Bauschinger a designer for Trailwise and The North Face. The company was known for their innovative designs and marketing.
Vintage Sierra Designs Terra Tent. I am unsure if this tent is the Terra III or IV but I am going with III as it appears it would sleep 3 more comfortably. Here’s what Sierra Designs had to say about the then in a piece of promotional material for it:
“Sierra Designs Terra III and Terra IV geodesic domes. These tents incorporate strength, simplicity, and real value. Designed for comfortable, rugged three-and four-season use and built with Sierra Designs’ renowned attention to detail and high quality? Come on in and check ’em out for your self !” click here to view original postcard.
In pieces this assembling this tent looks a little bit daunting, but as noted in the instructions it is in fact quite simple to pitch and nearly impossible to mess up.
Measures approx:
84 inches across
80 inches deep
48 inches high
Weighs approx: 8 Lbs
Includes: directions, 1 extra pole, 3 extra rings/discs, 2 extra ferruls, 3 extra nylon cords, 5 stakes (1 missing). Small vintage Camp 7 stuff included as the parts bag.
Very unique Gerry removable clam shell support ruck sack. This drab green nylon bag is complimented by white seem edges, nylon cords, leather pulls and lashing and aluminum zippers. One main compartment with two side compartments. Thick brown nylon shoulder straps attached to the bag via a very large D ring at the top. A nice thick piece of riveted white leather attaches the D ring to the bag and allows the triangular clam shell support to snap into the back. Navy mesh backing stretched taut across the concave support makes for a comfortable ride and allows for the circulation of air across the back. The back support can also be removed to make for a less rigid ride. This back balloons to have quite the capacity but also works well with small loads.
Gerry was one of the original outdoor gear companies founded by Gerry Cunningham. The label on this pack is earlier as later labels move to the G triangle shape and are marked Denver Colorado. I would estimate this bag mid-1960s or before.
Main compartment measures:
18 tall x 16.5 inches across 5 inches deep (at base)
side compartments measure:
9.5 inches tall x 5.5 inches across x 2 inches deep.
weighs 1.5 pounds
